The Czech National Bank and České Dukáty invite you to Homage to Czech medal makers on Saturday, 23 March 2024 from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. at the CNB Visitor Centre. This meeting with the designers of commemorative coins and some of the Czech coins currently in circulation will immerse you in the enchanting world of medal-making.
The programme will feature an interview and autograph session with Vladimír Oppl, designer of the unique 100 million koruna gold coin commemorating 100 years of the Czech and Slovak koruna, along with medal makers Asamat Baltaev, Vojtěch Dostál, Zbyněk Fojtů, Josef Oplištil and Michal Vitanovský, will also present a cross-section of their work. The day-long event will honour the legacy of glass designer, medal maker and educator Jiří Harcuba, a pioneering figure in Czech medal-making.
The event will include a creative workshop, where participants will have the chance to craft their own small keepsake. Additionally, students from the Secondary Fine Arts School and Higher Vocational School in Jablonec nad Nisou will demonstrate medal-making techniques.
You can also look forward to the launch of Pavel Kosatík's book, a medal makers' autograph session and the handing over of a reduction machine to the Secondary Fine Arts School and Higher Vocational School in Jablonec nad Nisou.
