On Saturday, 14 June 2025, the CNB Visitor Centre in Prague opened its doors beyond regular hours as part of Prague Museum Night and welcomed almost 900 visitors. Read on to find out what was in store for visitors.
In addition to the interactive Exploring the Currency exhibition, which presents the current roles of the central bank, and the People and Money exhibition located in the former strongroom, visitors were able to explore interesting and lesser-known facts about Czech banknotes and coins in a special programme called Our Banknotes and Coins.
Visitors tried their hand at designing money during a creative workshop, stepping into the role of banknote and coin designers. They could also delve into the world of banknotes through two video screenings. The educational video series Explore Oldřich Kulhánek's World of Banknotes offered insights into the designs and details featured on our banknotes. The short film Banknotes through the Eyes of Students focused on the process of designing paper money.
The evening also featured two guided tours of Oldřich Kulhánek's World of Banknotes exhibition. The exhibition's curator, Jakub Kunert, introduced visitors not only to Oldřich Kulhánek's banknote designs but also to aspects of his wider artistic work that did not make it into the exhibition – some of which are best viewed after dark.
Thank you to everyone who visited!
