Summer at the CNB Visitor Centre

The popular CNB Visitor Centre is also open all summer. Visit our exhibitions and enhance your understanding of the world of money and economics. Try lifting a gold bar, find out how much you weigh in thousand-koruna notes, and explore the fascinating art of "vitrography." All this and more awaits you at the Prague and Brno exhibitions.

What can you look forward to?

Visit our Prague Exploring the Currency exhibition and discover the role played by the central bank in our daily lives. You'll experience first-hand what it's like to take a seat on the Bank Board and the challenges of maintaining price stability. Visit the Money Lab to explore counterfeits where you'll be reminded of the advanced security features on our currency. In the "Hiding places at home" area, find out why hiding money in books or under the floorboards might not be the best idea.

Those interested in the history of our currency will enjoy the People and Money exhibition in Prague and Brno. The Prague exhibition is housed in the impressive setting of a former strong room, whose massive doors safeguard, among other treasures, the world's second-largest gold coin. In Brno, the exhibition not only offers a glimpse into the unique architecture of the former Hypoteční banka markrabství Moravského, but also highlights a range of regional monetary features. You'll even have the chance to test the authenticity of your banknotes under a special UV lamp.

Do you also consider Czech banknotes and coins to be among the most beautiful in the world? Their high artistic value can be explored in two accompanying exhibitions. Oldřich Kulhánek's World of Banknotes exhibition in Prague offers insights into the work of the artist who designed our paper currency. The Brno exhibition is complemented by the Beauty in Glass and Metal exhibition, where, thanks to the recreated studio of Jiří Harcuba, one of our most prominent medal makers and the designer of the Czech five-koruna coin, you'll find yourself immersed in the very heart of his work.

A summer of thematic programmes and an exciting escape game
